Bellydance Classes with Kristina
Kristina teaches every Monday night at the Northcote YMCA @ 7pm
A description of what your classes include:
Central Trunk stability work (focusing on and strengthening the abdominal muscles) Bellydance Technique (a great way to learn or refine your basic movement patterns)
Combinations (a new dance sequence every week for you to take away and practice)
Improvisation (essential to your bellydance practice)
* Intermediate students will work on a new dance combination each week which over 8 weeks will build to a full choreography for those who attend all classes.
Bring a bottle of water and a towel with you to each class, wear a skirt, or comfortable pants and if you wish bring a scarf to tie around your hips. Bare bellies are NOT necessary.
About your Teacher:
Kristina has been dancing and performing since she was 7 years of age, she specialises in bellydance which she loves for both its cabaret style fun and flair but also for its folkloric traditions. Her personal style is vibrant, fun and inclusive and ranges from Egyptian Raks Sharqi and Folkloric to American styles of bellydance as well as Funky Modern Fusion performances.
Kristina performs every week at functions and events in and around Melbourne.
In 2010 she performed in the USA as part of the New York Theatrical Bellydance Conference and in Cairo, Egypt as part of the Sphinx Festival where she also studied intensively under famous Egyptian folkloric dance masters Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy.
In 2011 she appeared as a guest artist at the Sydney Middle Eastern Dance Festival.
In her career Kristina has also had opportunity to train under well known artists and teachers such as Mohammed Shahin (Egypt), Mohammed El Hosseny (Egypt) Nourhan Sharif (USA), Ranya Renee (USA), Farida Fahmy (Egypt), Mahmoud Reda (Egypt), Virginia Rizkallah (Australia) to name a few.
Kristina is also a practicing Sports Kinesiologist specialising in the area of women’s health and fitness which helps her bring a strong understanding of human anatomy and safe movement practice to her teaching.
